The Bridge Plate is modified by Cutting it off just behind the Bridge Pickup mounting screw Holes for Maximum picking clearance near the Bridge Pickup. I start with a Standard FENDER 50's Style Chrome Bridge Plate that fits all Vintage & Classic 50’s, 60's, 70's, 80's and on up to current Reissues, MIM, CIJ, MIK, MIJ, Squier Classic Vibe’s, Highway One's, Deluxe Nashville’s, Classic Player Baja’s and the new American Special, with (4) mounting screw holes and "Strings thru Body". Also has Rear Holes for using on a “Top-Loader” NOTE: Does not fit the American Standard or American Deluxe. The Screw Spread Dimension is 2-9/16" center to center to the (2) outer-most holes. The String Spread Dimension is the Standard 2-1/8 inches "E" to "E". The Bridge Plate is modified by Cutting it off just behind the Bridge Pickup mounting screw Holes for Maximum picking clearance near the Bridge Pickup. (as done on G.E. Smith’s original Guitar, & on the Fender G.E. Smith Signature Model Telecaster Guitar). This Mod eliminates the parts of the Vintage Style Telecaster Bridge that you've been catching your pick on, or banging your knuckles on. The Modified areas of the Plate are polished smooth to match the rest of the bridge plate before the bridge is assembled. This Bridge requires the Bridge Pickup to be “Body-Mounted” similar to the original mounting method used on the 50’s Telecaster Neck Pickup, but with (3) screws instead of (2). Body mounting the Bridge Pickup on a Telecaster produces a “FATTER” tone from that pickup. “With that pickup in the wood like that, you get this resonance and this fattened-up lower end and low midrange that’s really cool” ~ G.E. Smith The cut-off area allows you to position your pick right up close to the saddles. I then add a set of Custom Fitted 3-pc. "Angle Compensated" Premium Smooth Brass Saddles. These Saddles have the intonation screw drilled at a slight angle. They allow proper intonation of your Tele's vintage style three saddle bridge by angling the saddles and establishing the proper string length on all six strings. This is not possible with a stock set of "Straight" Saddles because most often you would need to adjust the saddle to a point halfway between the two perfect settings for each of the strings on that saddle. With the "Angle Compensated" Saddles, that Compromise is minimized or not necessary at all. The center saddle of this set is then Custom Ground so the string elevations can match your Fretboard Radius and the proper angle is ground on the ends so these saddles fit beside each other better with minimal interference. These saddles offer a True Vintage Look and Sound with the appeal of Dramatically improved intonation. Mounting screws are not included.
